How to get Lotus Notes Workspace back |
|
|
The Notes Workspace is a legacy interface for Notes. Starting with Notes R5, the Workspace page was replaced by the so called "Welcome page" that appears on the screen immediately after Notes is launched (referred to as Notes "home page") and bookmarks. The legacy Workspace page is still available in newer versions and accessible through a "Databases" folder on the bookmark bar: Fig A If you want the Workspace page to be opened automatically every time Notes is launched, you need to create a bookmark for the Workspace page and add it into "Startup" folder. You can also designate Workspace page to act as your "home page" in place of the default Welcome page. However, this will be changed to the default setting (i.e. Welcome Page will become your "home page") every time you upgrade Notes to the new release. Because you will need to manually change back this setting every time you install new version of Notes, we recommend that you leave a default setting and add Workspace bookmark to your Startup bookmark folder instead. To create a Workspace bookmark in your Startup bookmark folder - Open Workspace page using existing bookmark in Databases folder, as shown in Fig A
- Right-click on Workspace tab to get pop-up menu and select "Create Bookmark..."
- In the "Add Bookmark" dialogue box, select "Startup" folder and click OK
To set Workspace as your "home page" - Open "Databases" folder on the bookmark bar and locate "Workspace" bookmark, as shown in Fig 3
- Right-click on "Workspace" bookmark to get pop-up menu
- Select the option "Set Bookmark as Home Page."
- In the "Set Home Page" dialogue box, click OK.

NOTE: You can use this procedure to set any database as your "home page". If the desired database does not have a bookmark, drag the open database's workspace tab to the bookmark bar. To undo setting a bookmark as your "home page" You can reset the default Welcome page to act as your "home page". - Open your "Favourite Bookmarks" folder on the bookmark bar.
- Right click on the Welcome bookmark.
- Select the option "Set Bookmark as Home Page."
- In the "Set Home Page" dialogue box, click OK.
Tip If the Welcome page bookmark is not in your "Favourite Bookmarks" folder, choose "File - Database - Open" from the pull-down menu and click "Browse". Then select BOOKMARK.NSF in your Data directory and click "Select". Click "Open" and drag the Welcome workspace tab to your "Favourite Bookmarks" folder.
